Day 3: Whitehorse Sightseeing

Summer: On this tour you will visit the magnificent Kluane National Park, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. We will stop at Sheep Mountain in hopes of spotting the local Dall sheep on their traditional territory. We will also learn more about the Glacial Fields in the Kluane National Park at the Visitor Centre.

Late autumn, winter and spring: We will enjoy a fun-filled half-day experiencing the Yukon’s winter wilderness of Buck and White Fang, as described by famous Klondike Gold Rush author Jack London. After meeting our team of Alaskan huskies, you will assist in harnessing them to the sled, and then we hit the trail! Our tour provides a gentle ride through the serene Whitehorse area backcountry, allowing you to take in the majesty and beauty of the Yukon. The half day tour includes a snack and warm beverage.

When we stand under the Yukon sky surrounded by mile upon mile of Yukon’s wilderness, we can’t help but think of what the ancients, our ancestors might have thought as they too stood spell bound by the Northern Lights. It’s little wonder that they believed the Northern Lights to be the spirits of the departed or the Gods themselves. Yukon is one of the best places on earth to see the Northern Lights – colourful bands of light that dance in the dark night sky. While the Northern Lights occur year-round, summer’s near-constant daylight makes seeing them next to impossible. In the autumn, winter and early spring, however, clear, dark nights lend themselves to stunning displays. Late evening departure for Aurora viewing at AuroraCentre with tour guide.
